Rockets' Delfino out for remainder of playoffs
May 3, 2013 - 10:38 PM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Houston Rockets forward Carlos Delfino will miss the remainder of the 2013 NBA Playoffs after a CT scan performed Thursday revealed a bone fracture in his right foot that will require surgery.Delfino left midway through the second quarter of Houston's Game 5 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder after experiencing soreness in his right foot.
"Carlos has played a large role in our success so far this season and we are disappointed for him that he will not be able to finish out this playoff run," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. "Carlos would love nothing more than to be out there with his teammates as they prepare for (Friday's) Game 6, but this is the type of injury that requires a surgical repair. We expect he will be fully recovered in time for the start of next season."
Delfino posted averages of 9.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in five appearances this postseason to help the Rockets fight back from an 0-3 hole to force Friday's Game 6 in Houston.
The Rockets did get a bit of encouraging news Friday, as guard Jeremy Lin, who missed Houston's last two games with a right chest contusion, is expected to come off the bench against the Thunder.
