Parker gets French honor
Jul 15, 2007 - 2:24 PM PARIS (Ticker) - If Tony Parker and France fail to reach the podium at this summer's EuroBasket, the San Antonio Spurs mega-star will still return to the United States with a medal in his bag. That's because the 25-year-old Parker was on Saturday - Bastille Day - inducted into the French Legion of Honour.
Parker, who averaged 24.5 points on his way to MVP honors in this year's NBA Finals with San Antonio, has had a whirlwind month.
He and San Antonio completed a four-game sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 14 with an 83-82 victory to win the title, and on July 7, Parker wed Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.
Now Parker joins the recently inducted singer/actress Barbara Streisand in possession of France's highest civilian honour.
No one has shouted yet.
