Report: Dumars out as Pistons' president

Apr 14, 2014 - 2:54 AM Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons have reportedly decided not to renew the contract of president of basketball operations Joe Dumars.

Dumars has agreed to remain as an executive adviser outside the basketball operations domain, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Pistons are a disappointing 29-52 this season and ownership made the decision to move on from Dumars even before the firing of Maurice Cheeks 50 games into the season.

Dumars became the Pistons' president of basketball operations prior to the 2000-01 season and built the team that won the NBA title in 2004 and advanced to the NBA Finals the next season.

However, this will mark the Pistons' fifth straight season missing the playoffs.
