Hawks exercise options on Marvin and Shelden Williams
Aug 21, 2007 - 9:44 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday exercised the contract options for the 2008-09 season on forward Marvin Williams and forward-center Shelden Williams.The option on Marvin Williams' contract was for $5.637 million. Shelden Williams' option was for $3.40 million.
Marvin Williams averaged 13.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 64 games last season. In two campaigns, the 6-9, 230-pound forward, who was third on the club in scoring last season, has averaged 10.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 143 games.
Shelden Williams, playing in a team-high 81 games in 2006-07, averaged 5.5 points and 5.4 rebounds, while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. The 6-9, 250-pounder, who led all rookies in rebounding, recorded eight double-doubles, also tops among first-year players.
