NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Houston Rockets guard Rafer Alston just can't stay out of trouble.

Continuing to wreak havoc off the court, Alston was released without bail Tuesday after being charged with stabbing a man at a Manhattan nightclub.

Alston was arrested early Monday on felony assault charges after police responded to a brawl at the trendy nightclub called Stereo.

It was the second run-in with the law in less than a month for the out-of-control Alston, who was arrested on August 5 in Houston and charged with misdemeanor assault and public intoxication.

"We became aware of the incident early this morning," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. "Obviously, it is troubling that Rafer was again in a situation involving the police. We take these matters very seriously - the Rockets expect all employees to represent the organization in a first-class manner. Until more facts are gathered from all parties, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further."

The New York Daily News reported the latest incident for Alston occurred when a member of his entourage got into an argument with another man at the nightclub.

Eventually, the argument turned into a brawl, where Alston slashed the man on the right side of his neck.

A native of Queens, Alston has a court date set for January 3.

The 6-2 Alston averaged 13.3 points and 5.4 assists in 82 games with Houston this past season.

Alston, 31, has played parts of eight campaigns with the Rockets, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 9.6 points and 4.8 assists in 468 career games.
