Knicks sign Jason Smith
Jul 19, 2014 - 3:19 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - New York president Phil Jackson announced on Friday that the Knicks have signed veteran center Jason Smith.Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but multiple media reports earlier in the week had Smith set to make $3.3 million for one year.
Smith, 28, has averaged 6.0 points and 3.5 rebounds over his six-year NBA career. Acquired by the 76ers on draft night in 2007 in a trade with the Miami Heat, Smith went on to play two years in Philadelphia before spending the last four with the Pelicans.
The Colorado State product made 27 starts in 31 appearances for New Orleans last season, averaging 9.7 points with a career-high 5.8 boards.
