Hawks sign first-round pick Payne
Jul 25, 2014 - 8:42 PM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks signed first-round pick Adreian Payne on Friday.Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Payne, the 15th overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, finished his career at Michigan State as the school's all-time leader with 141 blocks. He also became one of nine players in school history with at least 1,200 career points and 700 career rebounds.
As a senior, Payne averaged 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 31 games en route to Second Team All-Big Ten honors, helping the Spartans reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
