Heat sign Williams

Aug 1, 2014 - 5:44 PM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat signed forward Shawne Williams on Friday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Williams split the 2013-14 season between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League. He appeared in 36 games, starting 13 times, with the Lakers, averaging 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds.

With the D-Fenders, he appeared in 23 games (21 starts) and averaged 20.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.09 blocks.

Originally selected in the first round (17th overall) by Indiana in the 2006 NBA Draft, Williams has appeared in 251 career regular-season games, averaging 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds.
