Suns' Tucker suspended three games for DUI

Aug 12, 2014 - 7:40 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker has been suspended without pay for the first three games of the 2014-15 after pleading guilty to driving while under the extreme influence of intoxicating liquor, the NBA announced Tuesday.

Tucker was sentenced on Aug. 4 to three days in jail and 11 days of home detention for an arrest on May 10 in Scottsdale.

"I am truly sorry and I take full responsibility for my actions," said Tucker in a statement released after his sentencing. "No excuses. It is now my responsibility to examine my life and make the changes necessary to ensure this never happens again. That process has begun and will continue with the love and support of my family, friends and, of course, the amazing Phoenix Suns."

The Suns signed Tucker to a three-year contract in July.

The three-year NBA veteran averaged career highs of 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 81 games last season for the Suns.
