Kings to retire Stojakovic's jersey

Sep 16, 2014 - 5:55 PM Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Sacramento Kings announced Tuesday that the club will retire the No. 16 jersey of Peja Stojakovic this coming season.

The ceremony will take place on Dec. 16, when the Kings play the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Stojakovic played eight seasons with the Kings after being selected 14th overall in 1996 and was a member of the perennial playoff teams under head coach Rick Adelman.

"My time in Sacramento was the best years of my career and truly some of the best years of my life," Stojakovic said in a statement. "I am proud of what we built in Sacramento and the connection we made with the fans and the community.

The small forward ranks first all-time in games played (518) and second in points (9,498) during the Sacramento-era.
