Oladipo out with sprained MCL

Oct 6, 2014 - 9:15 PM Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo suffered a sprained right MCL last week and will miss Tuesday's preseason opener against the Miami Heat.

Oladipo, who is expected to start the season in Orlando's new-look backcourt along with former Nuggets guard Evan Fournier, injured his knee during a scrimmage last Friday.

"There's a little soreness and for precautionary reasons I got an MRI to see what is said," Oladipo said. "I'm just day-to-day depending on how I respond to treatment."

The second-year pro out of Indiana broke out as a rookie last season, finishing second behind Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams in the Rookie of the Year race after averaging 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists.

Veteran shooting guard Willie Green is also out with a hyperextended left knee, and sharpshooting forward Channing Frye suffered a left MCL sprain a few days before Oladipo. All three players will travel with the team to Miami but won't suit up.
