Grizzlies pick up Barnes from Hornets

Jun 25, 2015 - 5:51 PM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Memphis Grizzlies acquired forward Matt Barnes from the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday in exchange for recently acquired guard Luke Ridnour.

Barnes owns career averages of 8.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 779 games, including 296 starts, over 12 seasons with the Clippers, Kings, Knicks, 76ers, Warriors, Suns, Magic and Lakers.

The 35-year-old journeyman is on the move for the second time this month. He was traded by the Clippers to the Hornets on June 16 as part of the deal that sent Lance Stephenson to Los Angeles.

In 76 games last season with the Clippers, 74 of which were starts, Barnes averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds.

Ridnour has also become a trade chip. He was acquired by the Grizzlies on Wednesday from Orlando in exchange for the draft rights to Latvian Janis Timma. The Hornets turned around Thursday and sent Ridnour to Oklahoma City as part of a package for Jeremy Lamb.

The 34-year-old Ridnour averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 assists in 47 games for the Magic last season. In his 12-year career with the SuperSonics, Bucks, Timberwolves, Bobcats and Magic, Ridnour has averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 assists in 830 games.
