AP Source: Kings, Seth Curry agree to 2-year deal
Jul 22, 2015 - 1:33 AM Seth Curry is joining his brother in Northern California, after all. Just not together on the Golden State Warriors.Curry and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a two-year, $2 million contract, a person with knowledge of the deal said Tuesday night.
The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been signed yet, said Curry holds a player option for the second year. Yahoo Sports first reported the agreement.
Curry, the younger brother of NBA MVP and Warriors star Stephen Curry, shined with the New Orleans Pelicans' team in the recently concluded Las Vegas summer league. He has split time between the NBA Development League and 10-day contracts with Cleveland, Phoenix and Memphis the past two seasons.
Seth Curry went undrafted out of Duke after undergoing surgery on his right knee/shin. He competed for a roster spot in training camp with the Warriors two years ago but never got the call up from the franchise's D-League team in Santa Cruz.
Curry played three seasons at Duke after transferring from Liberty and, when healthy, has shown he can be productive. He was the leading scorer in Las Vegas, averaging 24.3 points in six games.
Curry shot 45.9 percent from the field and 22.9 percent from 3-point range. His team went 5-1.
At age 24, Seth is three years younger than Stephen. He has attended many Warriors games the past few seasons and watched his older brother lead Golden State to the NBA title this June.
Now he'll be about 80 miles up the road from Oakland in California's capital city.
Seth joins a Kings team that has been reconstructed under new front-office leader Vlade Divac this summer. Curry will likely be a third option behind point guards Rajon Rondo and Darren Collison in Sacramento, which is led by All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins and forward Rudy Gay.
