Howard, Boozer earn monthly honors

Dec 3, 2007 - 10:00 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Dwight Howard was rewarded for a huge month.

Howard, the star center of the Orlando Magic, was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for November on Monday.

Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer captured the award in the Western Conference.

Howard averaged 23.8 points on nearly 62 percent shooting and a league-leading 15.0 rebounds while leading the Magic to a 14-4 record. The 14 victories tied for the league high for wins in November with San Antonio.

Howard recorded a league-best 15 double-doubles and scored 30 or more points on six different occasions, including a career-high 39 in a 110-94 win on November 28 in Seattle.

Boozer ranked third in scoring at 25.4 points and tied for eighth in rebounds with 11.2, helping the Jazz to an 11-5 start. His .577 shooting percentage was the sixth-best mark in the league.

Boozer scored at least 30 points six times and posted 12 double-doubles, including six straight to open the season.

Other nominees included Boston's Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Cleveland's LeBron James, Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, Houston's Tracy McGrady, Phoenix's Steve Nash, and San Antonio's Tony Parker.
