NBA honors Jackson, Howard

Dec 3, 2007 - 10:51 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors have been nearly unbeatable since forward Stephen Jackson returned from a suspension.

On Monday, Jackson, who is averaging 21.4 points since rejoining the Warriors, was named Western Conference player of the week.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard earned the honor in the Eastern Conference.

In four games last week, all victories, Jackson averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals.

The Warriors started the season 1-6 while Jackson served a seven-game suspension for his guilty plea to a felony charge of criminal recklessness for firing a gun outside an Indianapolis strip club in October 2006.

Since Jackson returned, the Warriors are 8-1 and have climbed into second place in the Pacific Division.

Howard led the Magic to a 3-1 week, averaging 23.8 points and 15.3 rebounds.

On Friday, Howard recorded 30 points and 23 rebounds in a 110-106 loss at Phoenix. It was his eighth career game with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds.
