Anthony, Johnson honored by NBA
Dec 24, 2007 - 7:41 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony and Joe Johnson were named NBA Players of the Week on Monday.Anthony received the award in the Western Conference after leading the Denver Nuggets to a 2-1 record last week, collecting at least 30 points and 12 rebounds in each contest.
The 6-8 Anthony averaged 33.7 points and 13.3 rebounds in the three games this past week. He recorded season highs of 37 points and 16 boards Thursday in a 112-111 victory over the Houston Rockets.
Johnson earned Eastern Conference honors after averaging 28.0 points and 7.3 assists, pacing the Atlanta Hawks to a 3-0 record.
Johnson scored 16 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter Friday to lead the Hawks to their fourth straight win, a 97-92 triumph over the Washington Wizards.
