Pierce, Paul honored by NBA
Jan 1, 2008 - 4:09 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Paul Pierce once again was honored by the NBA.Pierce was named the Eastern Conference's Player of the Week after leading the Boston Celtics to a 4-0 record last week.
New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul received the Western Conference award, which was announced Monday.
Pierce averaged 27.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists last week for the Celtics, who won all four games on their Western Conference road trip.
It was the second weekly award this season for Pierce, who also won Eastern Conference honors on December 17. The 6-6 forward is averaging a team-leading 21.6 points this season for the Celtics, who boast a league-best 26-3 record.
Paul led the Hornets to a 3-0 record last week, averaging 25.7 points, 9.7 assists and 4.3 steals. The 6-foot Paul began the week in fine fashion, scoring 40 points and dishing out nine assists in last Wednesday's 116-98 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
