Cavaliers C Varejao has MRI

Jan 10, 2008 - 9:34 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao underwent an MRI on his injured left leg, the team announced Thursday.

The 25-year-old Brazilian, who is averaging 7.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in 15 games for Cleveland this season, suffered a knee contusion and Achilles strain during Wednesday's 90-81 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Varejao, a restricted free agent at the start of the season, missed the first 21 games of the campaign before the Cavaliers matched an offer sheet by the Charlotte Bobcats. The Cavs signed him to a three-year, $17.3 million contract on December 5.

In four seasons, the 6-11, 240-pounder has averaged 5.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 198 games.
