Nuggets F Anthony injured

Jan 22, 2008 - 7:44 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony left Monday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers in the second quarter with a sprained left ankle.

Anthony took a jump shot and landed on Kobe Bryant's foot, rolling his left ankle. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays, which were negative.

"I landed on Kobe's foot," Anthony said. "He didn't stick it out or anything."

Anthony, who had 13 points and four rebounds at the time of the injury, did not return and will be re-evaluated on Tuesday in Denver.

Nuggets coach George Karl said it will be a game-by-game decision on whether Anthony can play but was hopeful he would not be sidelined too long.

"It's pretty severe," Karl said. "It's a substantial sprain, but if (Anthony) comes back quick, ... We are hoping for this weekend."
