Turkoglu, Jefferson honored by NBA
Jan 28, 2008 - 8:01 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- One day after hitting a game-winning shot at the buzzer, Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson earned the honor in the Western Conference.
On Sunday, Turkoglu hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Magic a 96-93 win over the league-leading Boston Celtics. That victory capped a 3-1 week for Orlando in which Turkoglu averaged 25.5 points.
Jefferson also led the Timberwolves to three wins in four games, averaging 28.8 points and 12.8 rebounds. Minnesota beat three playoff teams from last season and its lone loss was a 87-86 defeat at Boston.
Jefferson averaged 28.8 points and 12.8 rebounds while recording three double-doubles. He capped the week with 40 points and 19 rebounds in Sunday's 98-95 win over the New Jersey Nets.
