Cavs F Varejao to miss 3-4 weeks
Jan 30, 2008 - 4:51 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao will be sidelined for three to four weeks with a left ankle injury, the team announced Wednesday.Varejao underwent further tests on the injury Tuesday after leaving the Cavalier's West Coast road trip to return to Cleveland, and was diagnosed with a left ankle sprain with bone bruises.
Varejao was hurt with 3:12 left in third quarter of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Following a made layup by LeBron James, he landed awkwardly on Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic's foot on his way down.
An MRI on Monday first revealed the sprain but the team wanted to conduct further tests at the Cleveland Clinic.
The 6-10 Brazilian is averaging 7.8 points and 8.5 rebounds this season.
Cleveland, which has won 10 of its last 12 games, visits Portland on Wednesday.
