Spurs G Parker undergoes MRI

Jan 31, 2008 - 8:32 PM SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker underwent an MRI on his injured left ankle which revealed no structural damage, the team announced Thursday.

The MRI, performed Wednesday, showed Parker is suffering from chronic inflammation.

Parker received anti-inflammatory shots Thursday which are designed to decrease the swelling in his ankle joint.

The team did announce Parker would miss at least the next seven games starting with Thursday's contest at Phoenix. San Antonio is in the midst of a season-high nine-game road trip.

The reigning NBA Finals MVP, Parker is averaging 19.2 points and 6.1 assists in 39 games.
