Cavaliers G Gibson hurts ankle

Feb 21, 2008 - 4:14 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson exited in the third quarter of Wednesday's matchup against the Indiana Pacers with a left ankle injury.

Gibson, who captured MVP honors in the Rookie-Sophomore game during All-Star weekend, sustained the injury when Indiana's Travis Diener dove for a loose ball, bending Gibson's ankle back.

The 6-2 sharpshooter was helped off the court with what was called an "inversion" sprain of his left foot. X-rays were negative and he will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

Gibson entered the contest averaging 11.5 points while shooting 46 percent in his second season out of Texas.
