Cavaliers G Gibson out 4-6 weeks
Feb 22, 2008 - 3:36 AM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers learned they will be without guard Daniel Gibson for four to six weeks due to a high ankle sprain.Gibson underwent an MRI that confirmed the injury Thursday, one day after he suffered it during the second quarter of a 106-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
The 21-year-old Gibson, who captured MVP honors in the Rookie-Sophomore game during All-Star weekend, sustained the injury when Indiana's Travis Diener dove for a loose ball, bending back Gibson's ankle in the process.
The 6-2 sharpshooter was helped off the court with what was called an "inversion" sprain of his left foot.
Gibson entered the contest averaging 11.5 points while shooting 46 percent in his second season out of Texas.
