James, Ginobili honored by NBA
Feb 25, 2008 - 7:24 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- LeBron James capped off another solid week for the Cleveland Cavaliers when he was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili received the honor in the Western Conference.
James helped guide the Cavaliers to a 3-1 week by averaging a triple-double over the four games with 28.8 points, 12.3 rebounds and 10.5 assists.
On Tuesday, James posted 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in a 93-85 loss vs. Houston, then followed that up the next day with 31 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists in a 106-97 win at Indiana.
Against Washington on Friday, James hit the game-winning free throws with 7.8 seconds remaining in a 90-89 victory as he finished with 33 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists. He then tallied his fourth double-double of the week in Sunday's 109-89 win over Memphis with 25 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
Ginobili sparked the Spurs to a 3-0 week, averaging 30.7 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
Ginobili, who leads the Spurs in scoring at 20.7 points, hit the game-winning jumper against Minnesota on Thursday to cap a 44-point effort in a 100-99 victory. He tallied 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in a 98-89 triumph over New Orleans on Saturday.
Other nominees were Detroit's Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace, Houston's Tracy McGrady, New Jersey's Richard Jefferson, Orlando's Dwight Howard, and Toronto's Chris Bosh.
