Hornets F West out against Nets

Mar 8, 2008 - 2:10 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- New Orleans Hornets power forward David West did not suit up for his team's contest against the New Jersey Nets on Friday.

A first-time All-Star this season, West missed his second consecutive game due to a sprained left ankle.

Before Friday's game, Hornets coach Byron Scott told the New Orleans Times-Picayune he was pretty sure West wasn't ready to play.

"(David) probably won't play tonight unless he tells me something different," Scott told the newspaper. "He will probably not play until Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs."

In his fifth season out of Xavier, the 6-9, 240-pound West is second on New Orleans in scoring (19.7) and rebounding (9.0) while leading the club with 1.3 blocks in 58 games.
