Celtics G Ray Allen sits out
Mar 16, 2008 - 4:56 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Bucks' fans did not get to welcome Ray Allen back once again. The All-Star guard of the Boston Celtics sat out Saturday's 99-77 win over the Bucks with a left ankle injury.
Allen, who spent the first seven seasons of his career in Milwaukee, jammed the ankle in the first quarter of Friday's loss to the Utah Jazz. He suffered the injury when he slipped on a drive to the basket and landed awkwardly on his left foot.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers said after Saturday's win that he expects Allen back "real soon."
Allen is averaging 18.3 points and shooting 40 percent (152-of-376) from 3-point range in his first season with the Celtics (52-13).
A 12-year veteran, Allen has career averages of 21.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 850 games with Milwaukee, Seattle and Boston.
