Garnett, Paul honored by NBA
Mar 24, 2008 - 7:40 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- After helping his team sweep the "Texas Triangle", Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul earned the honor in the Western Conference.
Garnett averaged 20.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a 3-1 week for the Celtics, who became the first team to sweep Dallas, Houston and San Antonio since Sacramento in 2001.
On Tuesday, Garnett recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Celtics snapped the Rockets' 22-game winning streak - the second-longest in NBA history - with a 94-74 victory.
Paul led the Hornets to a 3-0 week, averaging 25.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. He has scored at least 20 points in 15 of New Orleans' last 19 games.
