Durant, Sessions earn rookie honors

Apr 17, 2008 - 8:26 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Seattle SuperSonics swingman Kevin Durant and Milwaukee Bucks guard Ramon Sessions on Thursday were named the NBA's Rookies of the Month for April.

Durant, who has won the award five times, averaged 20.3 points in his rookie season - tops among first-year players. The 6-9 Durant finished the season strong, averaging 24.3 points and 4.1 assists in the season's final month.

He also notched season highs with 43 points and 13 rebounds in a 126-121 victory in the season finale against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. It was Durant's first double-double of the campaign.

Sessions, who played 24 games in the D-League this season, blossomed down the stretch. He set the Bucks' franchise record with 24 assists vs. the Chicago Bulls on Monday, which also was the first 20-point, 20-assist game in franchise history.

Twice named the D-Leaguer Performer of the Week, Sessions became the first player with D-League experience to win an NBA monthly award.
