Hawks F Williams ejected

May 4, 2008 - 6:44 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams was ejected for committing a flagrant-two foul in Sunday's playoff game against the Boston Celtics.

Williams was whistled for his hard foul against Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo during the third quarter in Game Seven of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

With just over nine minutes remaining in the third, Williams clotheslined Rondo as the second-year point guard was cruising in for a layup. The referees reviewed the play on a video monitor and decided to kick Williams out of the game.

What made the foul even more egregious was Boston's 33-point lead at the time of the infraction.

Williams, who sprained his left knee in the fourth quarter of Friday's 103-100 Game Six win, was questionable for Sunday's contest.

He went through a 30-minute workout during the Hawks' walkthrough Saturday but did not put much weight on the knee, which was heavily taped.

The No. 2 overall pick out of North Carolina in 2005, Williams averaged a career-high 14.8 points per game this season.
