Jazz F Millsap to have surgery
May 19, 2008 - 11:01 PM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, the team announced Monday.Millsap suffered the injury in Utah's 108-105 Game Six loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals on Friday.
X-rays following the game revealed the injury and a follow-up exam on Monday confirmed it. Thursday's surgery will be performed in Salt Lake City by Dr. Steven Huish.
The Jazz said they will provide a timetable for Millsap's recovery following the surgery.
Taken by Utah in the second round of the draft, Millsap played in all 164 regular-season games and 29 playoff contests in his first two seasons with the Jazz. He averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds this season.
