Report: Blazers acquire Hornets' pick
Jun 25, 2008 - 11:21 AM BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired the 27th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft from the New Orleans Hornets in return for cash considerations, according to an article posted Wednesday on ESPN.com.The report states that the the deal was agreed to verbally between the teams on Tuesday night and that they have scheduled a trade call with the league Wednesday morning to make the deal official.
The Blazers, who missed the playoffs after finishing 10th in the Western Conference with a 41-41 record last season, also have the 13th overall selection in addition to a trio of picks in the second round.
Portland selected center Greg Oden from Ohio State University with the No. 1 pick in last season's draft. Oden missed the entire 2008 campaign after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee in the preseason.
The Blazers also acquired the 23rd pick in last season's draft, selecting Rudy Fernandez, who is currently playing in his native Spain.
