Bulls name coaching staff

Jul 3, 2008 - 4:51 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls named Del Harris, Bernie Bickerstaff and Bob Ociepka assistant coaches Thursday, giving first-year head coach Vinny Del Negro plenty of experience on his staff.

Chicago also retained Pete Myers as an assistant coach.

Harris, 71, spent the last eight seasons as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks. He was a head coach for 13 seasons, being named NBA Coach of the Year in 1995 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bickerstaff, 64, was the vice president of basketball operations for the Charlotte Bobcats last season. He was the head coach of the Bobcats from 2004-07.

Ociepka was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves each of the past two seasons and has been an assistant for 19 years in the league.

It will be the eighth season as an assistant coach with the Bulls for Myers, who joined the organization as a scout in 2000.
