Bobcats sign pair of first-round picks

Jul 8, 2008 - 7:05 PM CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats signed first-round picks D.J. Augustin and Alexis Ajinca on Tuesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Augustin, the ninth selection, is set to make $1.8 million next season, while the 20th pick Ajinca will make nearly $1.06 million in his first season, according to the rookie scale.

Augustin played two seasons at the University of Texas and won the Bob Cousy Award after averaging 19.2 points and 5.8 assists per game last season. The 5-11 guard also helped the Longhorns reach the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Memphis.

A seven-foot center, Ajinca spent the last two seasons playing professionally in his native country of France, and averaged just 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game last season.
