ORLANDO (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic on Thursday signed free agent guard Mickael Pietrus.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Orlando Sentinel reported on Tuesday that it was a multi-year contract that will pay Pietrus close to $5.2 million this season.
The 6-6 Pietrus played in 66 games - 16 starts - for the Golden State Warriors last season, his fifth with the team. Pietrus averaged 7.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 20 minutes per contest.
"Mickael brings versatility and athleticism to our roster," Magic general manager Otis Smith said. "He is a solid defender who will fit in very well with our team. We are excited to add Mickael and feel he can help us reach our ultimate goal."
Pietrus was selected 11th overall by the Warriors in the 2003 draft and has career averages of 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds. He averaged a career-high 11.1 points during the 2006-07 campaign.
