ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic added veteran depth to their backcourt Tuesday, signing guard Anthony Johnson.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed,
Johnson, 33, has played for seven different teams over parts of 11 seasons. The South Carolina native split last season with the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings, averaging 5.6 points and 3.8 assists in 69 games.
The 6-3 Johnson figures to compete for a backup role behind starting point guard Jameer Nelson, who helped lead the Magic to a 52-30 record and the Southeast Division title last season.
"Anthony addresses our need for depth at the point guard position," Magic general manager Otis Smith. "He is a veteran leader who has played in the NBA Finals. We are happy to add Anthony to the Magic family."
