OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The Oklahoma City franchise, formerly the Seattle SuperSonics, acquired the draft rights to guard Kyle Weaver from the Charlotte Bobcats for a second-round pick in 2009 on Monday.

The 6-6 Weaver was selected by Charlotte with the 38th overall pick of June's draft. The former Washington State star averaged 6.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in five summer league games with the Bobcats.

"We're pleased to add Kyle Weaver to our organization," Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti said. "He is a young player with a defensive mentality and team-first approach to the game. We are excited to add these qualities to our team in Oklahoma City."
