BOSTON (Ticker) -- Darius Miles will attempt to make a comeback with the Boston Celtics.

Miles, who has missed the last two seasons after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee, signed a non-guaranteed contract with the defending world champions Friday.

"He's coming to training camp and he's going to try to prove that he can make the team," Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said. "He has come in for a couple of workouts. He'll try to make the team somehow."

Miles is looking forward to joining the Celtics.

"I've watched the Boston Celtics play a lot last year and loved what I saw in their teamwork and chemistry on the court and it's the team I want to resume my career with," Miles said. "I am excited about having an opportunity to play on a team that I feel my personality fits with and a team that can have great success on the court."

Miles, 26, last played in the NBA in 2005-06 when he averaged a career-high 14.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 40 games for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Originally selected third overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2000 draft, the 6-9 Miles has career averages of 10.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.
