OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- The NBA's new Oklahoma City franchise signed guard Kyle Weaver to a multi-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We're pleased to officially add Kyle to our roster," Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti said. "His defensive mentality and selfless approach to the game are consistent with what we are working to establish in Oklahoma City."

The 38th overall pick in June's draft out of Washington State, the 6-6 Weaver was acquired by Oklahoma City in a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats on August 11. He averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists and was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team in his senior season with the Cougars.

Weaver's signing comes just hours after the franchise said that it will announce its new nickname and logo next Wednesday. The team is considering the Thunder, Energy, Wind, Marshalls, Barons and Bison. The Thunder reportedly is the favorite for the club formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics.
