HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier is expected to miss the majority of the team's preseason schedule due to inflammation in his left foot.
Battier had surgery to remove bone spurs from his left ankle joint on May 9 and has experienced pain during the rehabilitation process.
The Rockets announced Friday that the seven-year veteran is expected to be sidelined for up to four weeks, but should be ready for the October 29 season opener against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Toyota Center.
Battier, 30, averaged 9.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 80 games with the Rockets last season.
