PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers on Monday exercised the third-year options on the contracts of forwards Thaddeus Young and Jason Smith.
The 6-8, 220-pound Young was selected with the 12th overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2007 draft. In 74 games last season, including 22 starts, he averaged 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.
Smith was originally selected by Miami with the 20th overall pick in the draft before the Sixers acquired him
for the rights to Daequan Cook, a future second-round pick and cash considerations. In 76 games with one start last season, the 7-foot, 240-pounder averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds.
