Paul, Bosh honored by NBA

Nov 3, 2008 - 10:14 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul was named the Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh earned the Eastern Conference honor.

Considered an early season favorite for MVP, Paul has done nothing to dispel that notion. The fourth-year point guard averaged 21.7 points and 12.0 assists in leading the Hornets to a 3-0 mark last week.

In doing so, Paul joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to help his team open the season with three straight wins while averaging at least 20 points and 10 assists.

The highlight of Paul's week was a 20-point, 10-assist, eight-rebound performance in a 108-103 victory over Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

Bosh also led his team to a perfect 3-0 start by averaging 26.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Bosh had 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 91-87 win over Milwaukee on Friday.

Other nominees for the awards were Nash, Atlanta guard Joe Johnson, Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki, Houston center Yao Ming, Indiana forward Danny Granger and Philadelphia forward Elton Brand.
