Heat G Wade practices, likely to play

Nov 18, 2008 - 6:18 PM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade participated in the team's morning shootaround and is expected to play against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.

The guard had missed Monday's session as a precaution with a sprained right ankle.

Wade suffered the injury in Sunday's 107-96 loss to the Toronto Raptors. The former NBA Finals MVP attended the Heat's film session Monday morning but missed the team's practice at Trinity University.

The Heat's leading scorer, Wade rolled his right ankle in the second quarter of Sunday's matinee contest. He remained in the game and finished with 29 points despite shooting 13-of-31 from the floor.

However, Wade limped noticeably throughout the second half, prompting first-year head coach Eric Spoelstra to hold the high-flying superstar out of Monday's workout.

Wade, 26, has missed 31 games each of the past two seasons due to a variety of injuries.

The four-time All-Star underwent major offseason therapy on his surgically repaired left knee before starring for gold medal-winning Team USA at the Beijing Olympics.
