Jazz F Boozer leaves game with quad injury

Nov 20, 2008 - 7:05 AM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The Utah Jazz can't seem to catch a break on the injury front.

Already shorthanded for the duration of the season so far, the Jazz saw their leading scorer go down late in Wednesday's 105-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

With just under four minutes to play, All-Star forward Carlos Boozer went up for a rebound and landed awkwardly on his left leg. He left the floor, did not return and was diagnosed with a strained left quadriceps tendon.

The seriousness of the injury has not yet been determined, but he will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

"It's good to keep winning, but we need to stop losing people," Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko said. "We won but, if we keep losing people, that's not good."

Utah has already battled through the recurring absences of several of its key players. Star point guard Deron Williams - Boozer's teammate on the U.S. Olympic team over the summer - has missed 10 of 12 games with a sprained left ankle.

Kirilenko missed two games with a finger injury, reserve forward Matt Harpring is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery and All-Star center Mehmet Okur recently has been hobbled by back spasms.

Boozer is only the latest casualty. The veteran power forward has averaged 20.5 points and 11.7 rebounds.
