Timberwolves F Brewer out for season with torn ACL

Dec 1, 2008 - 8:17 PM MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced Monday.

An MRI exam revealed the severity of the injury, which occurred during Saturday night's game against the Denver Nuggets.

"This is a tough situation for Corey and we feel for him," Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said. "Corey has worked extremely hard on his game. He was starting to really feel comfortable on the floor and was playing well. We'll miss his energy, defensive mindedness and toughness moving forward."

A date for surgery has yet to be determined for Brewer, who was averaging 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds this season.

The No. 7 overall pick in 2007, Brewer averaged 5.8 points and 3.7 boards as a rookie.
