James, Ilgauskas set franchise records for Cavaliers

Dec 10, 2008 - 1:14 AM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James already hit a milestone Tuesday, becoming the Cleveland Cavaliers' all-time leader in steals.

The 23-year-old James, who entered the contest against the Toronto Raptors averaging a career-high 2.1 steals, registered his 735th career swipe midway through the first quarter to surpass the mark set by former point guard Mark Price.

The reigning scoring champion, James has ratcheted up his defense this season for the Cavaliers (17-3), who are off to one of their best starts in franchise history.

Meanwhile, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas became the club's all-time leading rebounder later in the game, surpassing the mark set by Brad Daugherty.

With just under two minutes remaining in the second quarter, Raptors guard Jason Kapono launched a 3-point attempt that clanked off the iron. Both Ilgauskas and James were in position for the board, but James deferred to his 33-year old center, who secured the ball for his 5,228th career rebound.

The 33-year-old Lithuanian was the 20th overall selection of the 1996 draft and has spent his entire career with the Cavaliers, picking up two All-Star appearances and 9,613 points in the process.
