Hawks F Williams leaves game with possible concussion

Jan 17, 2009 - 7:34 AM OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams left Friday's 119-114 loss to the Golden State Warriors in the second quarter after possibly suffering a concussion.

He did not return after he was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

"Marvin's a big part of what we're doing and he's still being evaluated for a head injury so we just wish him well and a speedy recovery," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "We don't even know if he's going to make the trip back so we'll just have to see."

Williams' jumper with 9:08 remaining the first half missed, but he grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Warriors forward Ronny Turiaf on the follow shot.

After failing to block the shot, Turiaf's right arm wrapped around Williams' face and his head, knocking him to the floor.

The 22-year-old Williams was replaced 34 seconds later by Mike Bibby and taken to the locker rooms.

Williams, who is averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds this season, had five points and six boards before leaving.
