Bucks G Redd injures right knee, to have MRI Sunday

Jan 25, 2009 - 6:41 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd will have an MRI Sunday after straining his right knee in Saturday's 106-104 win over the Sacramento Kings.

Redd, who landed on teammate Luke Ridnour's foot in the third quarter, spoke to reporters while propped up on crutches after the game.

"We'll know more tomorrow when we get information," Redd said. "When you play hard, things like this happen. I've overcome so much adversity, had numerous injuries throughout the year. I'll be back, and our team will continue to keep fighting."

The 29-year-old Redd, who finished with 14 points before his departure against the Kings, has averaged 21.4 points in 32 games this season. He missed 14 contests in November with a sprained right ankle.

Reserve big man Francisco Elson posted a monster game Saturday with the team already missing starting center Andrew Bogut, who had back spasms. Injuries have been a theme for Milwaukee this season.

"Over half our games have been without two of our main players," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said, with Redd and Bogut combining for 26 missed games this season - but only one at the same time.

"Our guys are hanging in there. It's not always pretty every night, but we're hanging in there."

An Olympic gold medalist in Beijing last summer, Redd is considered one of the league's best sharpshooters. He has averaged 20.6 points in his nine-year career - all with Milwaukee, which took him in the second round of the 2000 draft out of Ohio State.
