Anthony, Redd named NBA Players of the Week
Dec 4, 2006 - 8:16 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony and Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd on Monday were named the NBA Players of the Week.Anthony won the award for the second straight week, scoring 35 or more points in each games as Denver went 2-1.
The star forward averaged 36.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 57 percent from the field last week. He has scored at least 30 points in 12 of the last 13 games.
Redd earned Eastern Conference honors after leading the Bucks to victories in two of their three games. He averaged 30.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
Redd's best performance came in a 109-105 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday when he scored 45 points and led Milwaukee to its first road win over the Lakers since 2000.
Other players nominated were Atlanta's Joe Johnson, Cleveland's LeBron James, Miami's Dwyane Wade, New Jersey's Vince Carter, Orlando's Dwight Howard, Toronto's Chris Bosh and Utah's Carlos Boozer.
