Gordon, Lopez earn NBA monthly honors
Feb 2, 2009 - 8:19 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Gordon and New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez on Monday were named the Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for January.Gordon ranked first among rookies in scoring for the month with 21.9 points and fourth in assists at 4.1.
Gordon scored a career-high 41 points against Oklahoma City on January 23, the most points ever scored by a Clippers rookie.
Lopez ranked first among rookies in blocks for the month with 1.81, second in rebounds at 7.9 and fifth in scoring at 14.9.
Lopez started all 16 games in January and posted three double-doubles.
Other nominees were Chicago's Derrick Rose, Memphis' O.J. Mayo and Marc Gasol, Miami's Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers, Minnesota's Kevin Love, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, Portland's Greg Oden and Sacramento's Jason Thompson.
